12:30pm - 1:30pm 25 anime openings, 1 winning team! Form groups and write your answers on a whiteboard to earn points. Prizes will be given out! Hosted by David Mei Vocaloid Music Quiz 2:00pm - 3:00pm Test your knowledge of Vocaloid by guessing songs from the 2010s (and possibly earlier) to the present day! Some will be beginner friendly, but there will also be some difficult songs on the list. Prizes will be given out! Hosted by Divine Charles Fanfiction Archives and the Art of Fanbinding 3:30pm - 4:15pm Hosted by two SBU librarians, this panel will discuss the fancraft of fanbinding — the art of turning fanfiction into published physical works. The panelists will also cover the ins and outs of digital fanfiction archives and the importance of fandom “tags” which are typically contributed by fans. This will be an interactive session that will engage the audience through polls and discussion. Then join Pokémon GO Club for our Pokédoku and Pokémon Trivia panel! We'll have our own Pokédoku (Pokémon-based Sudoku) board with custom categories during the event, along with a Trivia hosted on Blooket later on. Prizes will be given out! 12:30pm - 1:15pm This panel will discuss the industry of mass-produced, ready-made cosplays. The goal is to educate on the harmful effects of the cosplay industry’s manufacturing process and business models, and to provide useful individual practices to reduce harm on a larger scale. Hosted by Lychee Jelly and Mich Adopt, Don't Shop: Anime Edition 2:00pm - 3:00pm A panel dedicated to promoting cat adoption, featuring stories of cats in anime who found their forever homes or helped characters through difficult times. Attendees will play cat anime themed mini games and share their own adoption stories, take away cat omamori charms, and can ask us any questions about adopting our campus cats in our Q&A session! Hosted by Cat Network Origin and Impact of the Term "JRPG" 3:30pm - 4:15pm With huge franchises like Final Fantasy, Persona, Fire Emblem, and more, the "JRPG" genre has exploded in popularity globally. However, with this comes wariness from Japanese developers, warning against the use of the term "JRPG" due to its origins and historical usage. In this panel, we'll explore where the term came from, how its meaning has changed over the years, and what we can do to be more inclusive as a gaming community. She will be performing fan favorite anime openings and endings, along with popular J-pop idol songs! Sing along and have a blast! The person in the front of the team must buzz in quickly and answer the question correctly. After the question has been answered, the people in the front move to the back of the team. All card games will have starter decks available to use! All skill levels are welcome. Hosted by the Tabletop Club, Trading Card Game Club, and Go Club Pokémon TCG Beginners' Tournament 1:00pm - 3:00pm A small free tournament meant for beginners who are interested in learning how to play. Anyone of any skill level is free to join! You will be using one of several starter decks, made to be easy to understand yet effective. There will be prizes for the 2 students that do the best.
